“The Book of Brilliance indicates, if we understand the meaning of these ordinarily inaudible sounds, we can penetrate veil after veil of mystery.  In the 13th century Zohar, “the universe is aflame with the song of every aspect of creation.  Not only do the higher celestial sing…; the stars, planets, trees and animals all voice their melodies before the supreme presence.  Few of us are ever gifted enough to discern even the barest echoes of this vast harmony, the Book of Splendor emphasizes, but with inner devotion, meditation and the performance of good deeds, we may be sufficiently fortunate to catch at least a fleeting strain sometime in our lives.  The Zohar tells us that both kings David and Solomon were able to hear the song of the universe and were thus inspired to write the Psalms in the Old Testament and the Song of Solomon.

Harzat Inayat Khan, of the Sufi tradition says, “not only the existence of our physical body but also that of our

thoughts and feelings are dependent upon the laws of vibrations.”  And, the entire universe is filled with abstract sound, vibrations too fine to be either audible or visible to the material ears or eyes.  Jesus, Moses and Muhammed all heard and experienced these vibrations at the height of their most intense communions with the Divine.  We, too, can hope to access Divinity through playing crystal bowls, other instruments tuned to the Universe and/or chanting mantras, simple prayers and meditations.
